Michael H. Stern, D.D.S., Ph.D.
Michael H. Stern is a native of Houston,
Texas. He graduated from San
Jacinto High School and Rice University. He received his Doctor of
Dental Surgery degree from the University of Tennessee in Memphis,
Tennessee. His Ph.D. in experimental oral pathology was earned at the
University of Texas Graduate School of Biomedical Sciences, concurrently
with his Certificate in Endodontics from the University of Texas Dental
Branch in Houston, Texas.
Dr. Stern is married to Reva Lazarov Stern and has three children, Adam,
Joshua, and Rachel. Adam graduated from the University of Texas with a
degree in Finance and Accounting. He currently lives in Dallas with his wife
Lori and his daughter Ava. Joshua graduated from the University of Arizona with
a degree in Marketing. He now lives in Austin where he started both a business,
LonghornDelivery and a band,
building g, Rachel graduated from the University of Texas in May 2005 with a
degree in Marketing and has enrolled at the University of Houston to earn her
teacher's certificate.
Dr. Stern's hobbies include racquetball and martial arts. He likes
the
challenge that both sports present and the physical conditioning they
provide. He is currently holds a second degree black belt in Kuk Sool Won, the Korean national martial art.
Dr. Stern has been in the practice of endodontics in Houston since
1979. Prior to starting his endodontic career he was acting Chief of
Dentistry at St. Jude Children's Research Hospital , Memphis, Tennessee,
shortly after completing an appointment with the Shelby County Health
Department. He worked at St. Jude providing clinical treatment for
the
children of the Hospital and held an appointment as an instructor,
Department of Pathology, at the University of Tennessee College of
Dentistry. He returned to Houston to study with Dr. Barnet M. Levy and
Dr. Samuel Dreizen at the University of Texas Dental Science Institute.
Dr. Stern has received a number of academic and research awards and has
numerous publications in the field of endodontics. He is currently
continuing his research in post treatment endodontic pain.
Debora F. Levine, D.D.S., M.S.
Dr. Debora Levine was born in Maracaibo, Venezuela. She attended The Universidad
Central de Venezuela where she earned a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1993.
Immediately following her graduation she was in private practice for two years.
She left the practice when she came to the United States. She then completed a
six month preceptorship program in endodontics in 1995 at the University of
Texas Health Science Center at Houston. She subsequently worked as a Research
Assistant at the Bering Dental Clinic during 1996. Dr. Levine was accepted into
the endodontic program at Baylor in Dallas in 1997 and obtained her Certificate
in Endodontics and a Master of Science in Oral Biology in 2000 from Baylor
College of Dentistry. Dr. Levine received grants from the American Association
of Endodontists and the International Federation of Endodontists to fund her
research on the effect of the Feline Immunodeficiency Virus on the reactive
processes in periapical lesions. She has published several related articles in
the Journal of Endodontics and the International Endodontic Journal. Dr. Levine
has worked with Dr. Michael Stern in the private practice of endodontics since
completing her training at Baylor in 2000.
Dr. Levine is married to Dr. Giancarlo Romero whom she met during her dental
internship in the Venezuelan Amazons. They have two beautiful children,
Francesca and Joshua. She loves music and has played piano for many years.
Drs. Stern and Levine are members of the Greater Houston Dental Society, the Houston Association of Endodontists, the Texas Dental Association, and American Dental Association, and the American Association of
Endodontists.
